My sister, Jayna, came up to the Pacific Northwest for a visit in early Sept. of 2007. The timing proved to be very fortuitous. August was a crummy weather month. I injured my back pretty severely in July and was unable to do any of the activities that we delve into every Summer as deeply as we can. Hiking was reduced to a minimum and camping trips were totally out as I couldn't carry any weight. So when Jayna arrived in Sept for a kayaking trip, it was good timing. I was sufficiently healed to undertake a day of kayaking and the weather was picture perfect, as you shall see. It was the best weather we had all Summer.

| In the upper left is the lake I walked to for a cooling-off dip. I walked along the spine between the snowfields. Note the goats on the snow in the middle of the picture. |

After the swim I sat on the rock in the middle of the ice to put my shoes back on. I had to wipe my feet clean of mud with ice. My toes froze, but no matter, they were shorty warm enough again. |

I was a bit ahead, so I stopped to take a picture of Leslie and Jayna. See them on the upper left, Jayna's trying to slide like DiMaggio |
Still waiting and photographing them |
So long Baker, maybe a visit in the winter to ski on you |
| Eventually we had to come down from the mountain, due in no small part to the insistence of Jayna's daughter. |

| After our Kayaking and mountain journies we relaxed by skipping a few stones over the northwest wind (bastardization of a Harry Nilsson tune) and protecting ourselves by practicing "The Fly". |
