Leslie and I walked down the street to Fremont yesterday (June 17, 2006) to attend the Summer Solstice Parade and Art Fair. There are police around (somewhere) but, once a year, they look the other way and tolerate public nudity during the parade. Though I didn't join in, I felt very liberated and a bit hippified. The nudists didn't seem to be exhibitionists on parade so much as just being their uninhibited selves. They weren't flaunting, just strolling, or riding, nude. Many of them wore paint. The parade begins with public nudity and then various floats and things go by. None of it involves any advertising whatsoever. Letters are not allowed in the parade.
